The Bolangi Table Collection, which includes a dining table, a coffee table and a set of four side tables, was uniquely custom-designed for an interior design collaboration project. The client wished to create a dematerialized outdoor space as a shadow from the adjacent open space living of the house.
The dining area of the house is sandwiched between the lounge and the open plan kitchen, externally this was replicated with an outdoor dining setting also sandwiched between an outdoor lounge and a barbecue/braai area.
The highly rectilinear composition of the wooden collection is assembled without using a single nail and the top counter of each item is ringed by a precisely cut metallic band to prevent it from expanding from exposure to outdoor elements such as temperature shifts or water.
The brief was to keep a strong emphasis on the space created through simple, geometric forms.
The designs use crisp edges and a consistent use of clean joints to create a modern appearance aligning the rich grain of the Muninga also known as "Pterocarpus angolensis", a very versatile wood that has the advantage of being resistant to decay.
La Collection Bolangi, qui comprend une table à manger, une table basse et un ensemble de quatre tables d'appoint, a été spécialement conçue sur mesure pour un projet de collaboration en décoration d'intérieur. Le client a souhaité créer un espace extérieur dématérialisé comme une ombre de l'espace ouvert adjacent de la maison.
La salle à manger de la maison est prise en sandwich entre le salon et la cuisine ouverte, à l'extérieur, cela a été reproduit avec une salle à manger en plein air également pris en sandwich entre un salon et une zone barbecue / braai.
La composition hautement rectiligne de la collection en bois est assemblée sans utiliser un seul clou et le comptoir supérieur de chaque objet est entouré d'une bande métallique précisément coupée pour l'empêcher de se dilater à cause d'éléments extérieurs tels que les changements de température ou de l'eau.
Le but était de garder un fort accent sur l'espace créé à travers des formes géométriques simples.
Les conceptions utilisent des bords nets et une utilisation cohérente des joints propres pour créer une apparence moderne alignant le grain riche du Muninga également connu sous le nom de "Pterocarpus angolensis", un bois très polyvalent qui a l'avantage d'être résistant à la décadence.
