Project Profile:
Villa Zongo is an urban family residence with a feel of a countryside living that includes the ideals of a riverbank life of the client, reminiscent of his native Yangambi village along the Congo River in the North-East of the DR Congo’s Province Orientale. The aspiration was to live outside the chaotic urban buzz of Kinshasa in a natural, remote, and peaceful environment.
The site was strategic in achieving this dream.
Located in Kinsuka, a riverbank neighborhood along the non-navigable sections of the Congo River in the West of Kinshasa with its rapids, the dramatic topography offered both a challenge and an opportunity to bring to life a structure that feels like belonging without disturbing the natural order of things.
The residence comprises two parking spots at the end of the driveway, from where you enter the house passing the guest restroom, the kitchen and onto an open living with two lounges and a 12-seater dining area. This ground floor has multiple sliding doors opening to an L-shaped veranda giving the final form to the building. The veranda with multiple seating areas overlook both the pool and the mighty Congo River which become its visual extension. Stairs mimicking the topography takes you down and up different seating spots.
The top floor house a lounge-TV area, 4 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Each room open to the elevated L-Shaped veranda overlooking both the garden, the pool below, and offers extended views of the Congo River with Kinshasa and Brazzaville within the same view.

Villa Zongo est une résidence familiale urbaine avec une sensation de vie à la campagne qui comprend les idéaux d'une vie riveraine du client, qui rappelle son village natal à Yangambi le long du fleuve Congo dans la province orientale au nord-est de la RD Congo. L'aspiration était de vivre en dehors du bourdonnement urbain chaotique de Kinshasa dans un environnement naturel, isolé et paisible.
Le site était stratégique pour réaliser ce rêve.
Située à Kinsuka, un quartier fluvial longeant les tronçons non navigables du fleuve Congo à l'ouest de Kinshasa avec ses rapides, la topographie dramatique offre à la fois un défi et une opportunité de donner vie à une structure qui semble appartenir sans perturber l’ordre naturel des choses.
La résidence comprend deux parkings à la fin de l'allée, d'où vous entrez dans la maison en passant les toilettes des visiteurs, la cuisine et on débouche sur une pièce ouverte avec deux salons et une salle à manger de 12 places. Ce rez-de-chaussée a plusieurs portes coulissantes s'ouvrant sur une véranda en forme de L donnant la forme finale à l'immeuble. La véranda avec plusieurs coins pour s’asseoir s’ouvre sur la piscine et le puissant fleuve Congo qui devient alors son extension visuelle. Les escaliers imitant la topographie vous emmènent vers le haut et vers le haut des différentes aires de repos.
Le dernier étage abrite un salon-télé, 4 chambres, toutes avec salle de bains privée. Chaque chambre s'ouvre sur la véranda en forme de L surplombant à la fois le jardin, la piscine en-dessous, et offre une vue étendue sur le fleuve Congo avec Kinshasa et Brazzaville dans la même vue.
